It's one of the greatest trail in the Northern part of the Andes, in the Cordillera Blanca , Ancash.The Cordillera Blanca is also known as the highest Tropical Range in the world, located between the Callejón de Huaylas and the Corridor of Conchucos.This trail has been during centuries a road of comunications which once belonged to the system of the inca trails. The main inca trail went through the Conchucos area called the Capac Ñan, Peru's Royal Incatrail . This trek goes through valleys on the lateral branch of the Main Inca trail, that comunicated with the west part of the Inca Empire, coming out or going in a Tambo called Hualcayan. The trail goes in the deep part of the Andes, going through rural comunities, passes, valleys, having a good view of this Mountain range with espectacular views and able to see ALPAMAYO (4947 mts.), the most beautiful Mountain in the World (1966,Germany).

This is the most popular trek in the Cordillera Blanca. On the trail you get to see these snow-capped mountains that are over 5,800 mts., such as the Huascaran(6,768 mts.), Huandoy (6,395 mts.),Chacraraju (6,112 mts.),Chopicalqui (6,354 mts.),Contrahierbas (6,036 mts.),Taulliraju (5,830 mts.),Rinrihirca (5,810 mts.),Artesonraju (6,025 mts.),Quitaraju (6,035 mts.),Alpamayo (5,947 mts.) and Caraz (6,025 mts.) 

There are two high panoramic viewpoints, the first one is Portachuelo de Llanganuco (4,750 mts) and the second is the Pass of Punta Union (4,750). There are small villages on the road, Colcabamba, Huaripampa and Cashapampa and lakes which are located in these valleys making the scenery spectacular. 

The trek can be starts in Vaqueria (5 days/4 nights) or Cashapampa (4 days/3 nights).

This trek is perfect for a first experience or acclimatization in the Andes. A precolumbian trail which winds its way up into the puna reaching the Yanashallash Pass, at 4,700 mts. On the way you get to see the Huantsán (6,396 mts.), the Uruashraju (5,722 mts.)and other peaks. Descending into this valleys on the eastern side of the Cordillera Blanca you arrive to the oldest ceremonial center of Peru, Chavín de Huantar, Mother Culture of the Andean Civilization. Dozens of structures in polished rock, underground plazas, galleries and carved stone make this archaeological center unique.The UNESCO declared the site as Mankind’s Cultural Heritage in 1985.
