Alpamayo Trail
Duration : 8 days It's one of the greatest trail in the Northern part of the Andes, in the Cordillera Blanca , Ancash.The Cordillera Blanca is also known as the highest Tropical Range in the world, located between the Callejón de Huaylas and the Corridor of Conchucos.This trail has been during centuries a road of comunications which once belonged to the system of the inca trails.


 

The main inca trail went through the Conchucos area called the Capac Ñan, Peru's Royal Incatrail . This trek goes through valleys on the lateral branch of the Main Inca trail, that comunicated with the west part of the Inca Empire, coming out or going in a Tambo called Hualcayan. The trail goes in the deep part of the Andes, going through rural comunities, passes, valleys, having a good view of this Mountain range with espectacular views and able to see ALPAMAYO (4947 mts.), the most beautiful Mountain in the World (1966,Germany).

I T I N E R A R Y :

Day 1: HUARAZ- HUALCAYÁN- WISHCASH
At an altitude of 4200 above sea level, this is a walk of 2-3 hours

Day 02: WISHCASH- RUINAPAMPA. (4150m)
The trek continues, passing the peak of Santa Cruz and Lake Cullicocha.

Day 03: RUINAPAMPA- ALPAMAYO (4130m)
On our route today we encounter the majestic and impressive Ampamayo, the most beautiful snow peak in the world. We also visit the Alpamayo base camp for great views of the peak.

Day 04: ALPAMAYO – SAFUNA(4130m)
After visiting the base camp we start to ascend up to 4800m where the wind blows freshly.

Day 05: SAFUNA – JANCAPAMPA (3600m)
Today we enjoy one of the most impressive and beautiful landscapes of the Cordillera Blanca (Retama).

Day 06: JANCAPAMPA- HUECROCOCHA (4230m)
Alter a day with plenty of great views, we continue our journey to the enchanting lagoon of Huecrococha.

Day 07: HUECROCOCHA- TUCTUBAMBA (4230m)
Leaving the lagoon we climb up to the Puka Jirka pass and take in an impressive view of the snow peak Taulliraju.

Day 08: TUCTUBAMBA – VAQUERÍA
Today we end the walk having enjoyed the great beauty of nature here. Our final highlight is the exquisite Lake Llanganuco.
